First ever Dakota Language Weekend May 23-24
The first Dakota-Santee Language Weekend was held in conjunction with Dakhóta Iápi Okhódakičhiye. This meeting represented a new Siouan language event and a new opportunity to revitalize an indigenous language. We are so thankful for the instructors and students who joined us for this great learning opportunity. If you’re interested in attending the Dakota-Santee Summer Institute this July, you can learn more and register here.

New teacher portal debuted at Lakota Language Academy
We are excited to announce that the Owóksape Teacher Portal is set for release in the coming school year! This innovative addition gives teachers a virtual overview of their students’ progress in learning Lakota and allow teachers to customize their curriculum to suit their students’ needs. The Owóksape teacher portal is being introduced to Lakota teachers at the Lakota Language Academy Teaching Methods Course. Their feedback will help to continue improving this new educational feature.
